Roda to Gencon 1

Axo Convention - Road to Gen Con 2025 Part 1

Hello again. Last time, I told you a little bit about our preparations for Mega XP. Here is the link to that article.

Axo Convention

The next stop on our convention circuit this year is Gen Con, and this year is huge for us. At previous Gen Cons, some of our members had attended to showcase our games and meet industry professionals; we usually shared a spot in the IGDN booth. This year, we have a booth under the Axo Stories name, thanks to our collaboration with Latine Lounge.

Latine Lounge is a group that opens spaces for people to know and play games created and run by Latinx creators. They have a history of events at Gen Con and are widely known and respected by the community. We are collaborating with them for the booth, which will be located at Entrepreneurs' Avenue, number 2961, as Axo Stories & Latine Lounge.

Now, since this is our first GenCon with a Booth, I wanted to document our journey there. So, this week, I’ll talk about the booth.
So, Talks about the booth started during my trip to the last GenCon. I ran some of our games in the Latine Lounge hall and presented the opportunity for a collaboration.
After that, we presented our formal request once the gencon submits were open, we presented our concept and the idea of giving Latinx creators a place to show their games at Gencon and the attendees to get to know new games that otherwise they couldn’t known any other way, we also presented our first draft of the booth.

Once we have secured our place at Gen Con, we need to see how to fill our booth with inventory, furniture, banners, etc. Inventory is something we’ll discuss at a later time for the next Road to Gen Con blog, but all the other items require some effort.

First, you need to consider that GenCon only provides a table; all the other things run on your side, so we need to get them and ship or transport them ourselves. Now, GenCon booths come in different sizes, so you will have to consider your news space to display your product, a place for people to stand and see your product, a place to store some of your product, and a place for you and your team to stand, show products, and collect payment. Another essential part to consider is the placement of your booth. The placement of a booth in the middle of a line is different from that of a corner or island booth. Each of them has different visibility and interacts with the flow of people in their way.

This year, we have a line booth that is almost in the middle, which means we have to consider that we will have neighbors left and right, and we don’t know if they are going to have walls or not, so we need to make our booth stand out regardless of what we have surrounding us. I would like to show you our plans for it, but I rather not give you spoilers. If you are interested and are attending Gen Con, come see us at booth 2961.

Everything is working fine up to this moment, and we are waiting to see what comes next from this Gen Con Adventure 2025.
